In one of the most visited areas for the production of Gavi, the hamlet of Rovereto fits the winery of the Bergaglio family, whose winemaking history starts in the late 1800s. Here, we produce multiple versions of the quintessential Piedmontese white through careful selections and a direct thread between the vineyard and the winery.
The soil is rich in red clay, with an excellent concentration of iron, which can give backbone to the grapes. A product line elaborated by Marco Bergaglio is faithful to the terroir and its natural inclinations.
The historic winery in Rovereto offers two Gavi wines from the 2021 vintage. The first is Rolona, intensely scented with white fruit and flowers spreading on the palate with great texture and length due to its marked salinity. The second, however, appears more hidden on the nose, almost reluctant to concede its aromas that instead show up in a rich and gritty taste.
